It wasn’t long ago when there was actually glass on this building. Actually about a year ago, workers began removing all the glass from the building. As a matter of fact, there was some talk of exploring it but sadly we never made it.
Designed by local architect Al Beadle and built in 1972, the Mountain Bell Plaza building was one of the first its kind in Phoenix constructed of glass and steel.
To my knowledge, demo permits were actually pulled for the property back in about 2005 or so. Since then there have been groups trying to preserve this building or if nothing else, refurbish it. An interesting note about this building is that becuase it was considered short at only 10 stories, it didn’t even make the cut for inclusion in www.skyscrapers.com due to their minimum requirement of 12 stories or 35 meters in height. While I applaud the research and progress that has gone into this Vaccine so far, I have to wonder about the cure. I think a Vaccine is great to stop the spread of this disease, but let us not forget that there currently is no cure for HIV/AIDS. Let us not forget those living . . . → Read More: One step closer to an HIV/AIDS Vaccine

It started off as a harmless visit to Drudge for some news intake and I happen to follow a link displayed only as “School kids taught to praise Obama” pointing to this video:

On March 16th of 2009 I bought my last pack of cloves for $9.09 and never really looked back. Was it the patch? No. Gum? No. Was it that hypnotist I saw? Again, no. Was it easy? Pretty much.
I’ve been grilled by my brother for quitting for all the wrong reasons. He suggests that I should’ve quit for my health and if nothing else, at least my daughter. When I’m asked why I quit, it wasn’t because of my health or anything else. Simply put, I was too cheap to smoke
I paid $9.09 a pack twice with the second and last time being on 3.16.09. After a little research, I realized that $2 of that was going to the state in taxes and come April 1st the Feds would be adding a $1 in taxes. The reality of this was that at a pack a day, I literally could not afford to smoke anymore. I only smoked Cloves so switching brands was not an option. Therefore, I quit smoking. Not to mention the other thing that helped me realize the amount of money I was spending was the fact that I was tracking those expenses in Quicken and spending at least a couple grand a year on them. So I saw a picture today from around 82 or so. The peculiar thing about this picture is that some of these people, I’m not sure I’ve seen since 8th grade.
While I’ve been in contact with people I’ve worked with in my adult life, I guess I never really looked way back. Shit. Listen to me, “way back.” I guess in comparison, yea, people from elementary school are way back.
Come with me and have a read of this story…. Continue reading Past meets Present in the graces of in between.

I thought this was a neat picture.
There I am on Twitter
As many of you may or may not know, I thoroughly enjoy interacting with the local business here in Phoenix, and doing what I can to promote them on Twitter. There was recently a story done on local business . . . → Read More: I made the news. Barely.
