Phoenix Makes The News…Again

Incredible dust storm last night here in Phoenix. Check out this video footage.

I have seen a wall like this one or two other times, but never have I seen before the way it engulfed our neighborhood. Quite astonishing indeed. Another tonight perhaps? We shall see.

Now this is a new toy that I think will sweep the Nation and become one of those hard-to-find goodies come Christmas this year. While I cannot speak from the experience of owning one, I did get a chance to play with a Paper Jamz guitar last night in Walgreen’s. They had the drumkit in stock as well, but this particular store did not have a demo setup for drums, only a guitar.
I came home last night and did some looking into these new toys and was quite impressed at what someone that can actually play a guitar is able to do with these gems.

For example:

I wonder if they will come out with an acoustic version, maybe even a Bass? Having a 4 channel mixer at home, I think the addition of a Bass would just be neater than shit. That might just be kind of neat to have a few going and play over the system. Sorry if you came here looking for a review, since I do not own one, I don’t see that I have much to say in regards to a review. Consider this more of a bit of commentary. I wouldn’t mind picking up a few though for the family. It should be noted, I do not know how to play guitar, I just dig this new toy!

I know, I know. It’s all I’ve been talking about, IRON MAIDEN tonight!!

And when my folks read this and see that I spent $26 to go tonight, they’ll be pissed. So be it. I’m not exactly rolling in the dough see, and that money could certainly go towards something else indeed. Allow me to explain my MADNESS.

I’ve told you about way back in 1982 when my Mom, God love Her, took me to The Summer Strut in Anaheim. That was my very first concert ever my friends, and the opening band was none other than Iron Maiden!

For those of you used to a long two hour show or more, check out this relic, their set-list from the show:

And yes, Eddie did make an appearance that day and I’ll never forget it. Here’s the interesting thing about the dates. That show was on 7/17/82 and today is 6/17/10. Missed it by a month, it would’ve been neat if it happened to be the 28th anniversary of me seeing them for the first time. Close enough, and ever so awesome!! Let’s face it, it’s $26 bucks and has some sentimental value to me. Thanks Mom!

But wait! Oh brutha is there more! It wasn’t too long after that when I saw Iron Maiden once again and they even made a movie. Remember the infamous “Long Beach, Scream For Me”? Yep Yep, I was there!

And that was the last time I saw Eddie. When I saw Iron Maiden the last time, Eddie was not with them, although it was a small venue. In fact, Ronnie James Dio opened for them. From that show, I still have a wrist band and drum head from Nicko McBrain.

So yea, I think tonight shall be a most excellent show indeed!!

This is why I won't go near Mexico!

Hello my friends!

While growing up in Southern California, I used to go to Tijuana often. Since living in Arizona though, I don’t do Mexico as much. As a matter of fact, with all the crap going on down there, I just soon not go near the border.For those of you with teens and College students, you may think twice about allowing them down south of the border. But hey, who am I? Don’t just take my word for it. Read some news, in fact, take a few moments and watch this video to see just how freely the Cartels work the streets down there.

While it is my understanding that most of the violence about the time of this video takes place off camera, I think the video will give you some idea of just what to expect if you decide to be brave and head south.

You can count me out for any trips to Mexico unless I’m armed to the teeth which of course would never happen down there, seems the Drug Cartels have all the guns. Ah so be it! I’ll stay right here in the US thank you very much.

Gettin Down with the Double Down from KFC

Well I went for it tonight. That’s right, in honor of having blood work done today for a cholesterol check, I went for this Black Sheep of the menu. Despite the fact that people have been whining about excessive grease, stringy chicken and the list goes on, I took the chance and rewarded myself for the long wait. Being the trooper that she is, my wife also got one.

I liked it. Dammit, I liked this sandwich. Although I probably could have gone for the Combo since I was left feeling just a little hungry, and I think those wedge fries may have just about done the trick. I do think the price might be a bit excessive considering I can go to Little Caesars and score a large pizza out the door for $5.42 and have something left for lunch as well. How about the doubles that Burger King has for $1

Not thinking I’ll make a habit of this anytime soon, but it was good enough though that I could get used to them.

This is a big story these days. When you have about 20 minutes to spare, check out the video that has a lot of people pretty well pissed off.

WikiLeaks has released a classified US military video depicting the indiscriminate slaying of over a dozen people in the Iraqi suburb of New Baghdad — including two Reuters news staff.

I’m not over there so I don’t have much to say. I suppose war of this magnitude changes people, but who’s to say this doesn’t happen on a regular basis? I doubt we’ll ever know, but I’m not so sure this is anything new.
