As the weekend comes to an end….

Oh where to begin?  Shall I go backwards or start from Friday?

Well, overall, the weekend was not a bad one.  I guess I am just a bit bitter at the moment from a dinner I just came from.  See, my folks got us a gift card for the Claim Jumper a couple months ago, and just tonight we decided to give it a shot.  I think the two best things were the beer I had and the salad.  Two things you can’t screw up I guess.  At any rate, I took one bite of my burger and would like to have hurled. YUCK!  So I didn’t eat dinner.  I will be phoning them tomorrow to let them know how nasty the meal was.  Kinda sucks too since I didn’t eat yesterday.  I did however, partake in a bowl of cereal this morning followed up by a couple of eggs thanks to the Mrs.  That’s it since Friday.  Pathetic I know, but oh well.  I will be phoning up the Claim Jumper tomorrow though and let them know what garbage they served up.  I should have just drank the gift card rather then think I would get a decent meal.

So yesterday, I dropped by to see Travis at Pro-Gold and hung out for a bit shooting the breeze.  Helluva guy if you are in the area.  So we talked claims and gear and snakes and all sorts of neat stuff.  I then motored on home and got my toys together and went out to find some gold.  While I didn’t find the elusive nugget, I did manage to get me a small, tiny bit of flake.  I only got that because I thought I’d pan the the little bits of material I had.  I found a really awesome place that I’d like to go back to.  Believe it or not, there was actually enough water for me to run my sluice.  I’m guessing I could probably run quite a bit of material through it with the amount of water flowing.  I was going to go today actually but ended up doing yard work instead.  I should clarify that.  I was thinking of going today to do some prospecting out at a new area by BumbleBee that Dave was telling me about but thought I better do some chores.  From what I understand, there are some good nuggets in this particular area so it’s got me pretty excited.  I also found a new shaft yesterday, but I’m not sure it’s really that deep, plus it was getting a bit dark when I found it.  Doing the rock test didn’t prove to be very exciting as it was not that endless fall like some of the shafts I’ve found.  It did not seem to be straight down, it went at more of an angle so I might just have to go back and check it out a bit earlier in the day.  I was on my way out of the area when I stopped to check it out and the sun had already started to dip behind the Bradshaws.

Another revelation this weekend was pricing.  My God WTF?  It doesn’t matter where you go or what yo are shopping for, prices are going up badly.  A bucket of chlorine tabs cost me $110 today.  That’s just crazy, they used to be about $80.  I bought beer today.  Yet another shocker.  Everything is going up in price.  Hey speaking of which, that damn restaurant tonight wanted $11.95 for Calamari.  Yea right, like I am going to drop 12 bucks on frozen crap.  No thanks, I’ll pass.  In addition, as I write this, a commercial just came on for those nachos at Taco Bell.  Have you seen that yet?  Well, don’t do it.  They are nothing like what you see on TV.  Don’t get me wrong, I love Taco Bell, but those nachos are garbage.

Another kind of fun thing I did was communicate with the police helicopter.  Well, I do that all the time, but this time he talked back.  See, I wave at every helicopter that flies over, and have done so for years.  In this case, I was doing the yard, and wife was cleaning the pool.  The helicopter came slowly from the north and so I started waving.  He then went into a circle over the house so I called over to my wife and asked her to start waving.  When he came back around, I put both arms out and started like a teetar todder motion similar to what a plane would look like rocking its wings back and forth.  That’s actually how planes say hi.  Anyhow, as he came back around with her waving and me doing my motion,  he sounded his siren real quick and continued south.  I was stoked!  He cruised by a couple more times through the morning doing a circle and continuing.  That just made my day.

Have a great week!
